Once again, "sleeping in" resulted in about thirty more minutes sleep than usual, rather than the hour and a half I'd hoped for, but oh well. I did get to catch the end of "Sister Act" on one of the movie channels. I love the nuns in that! Really good casting. After that was "Bicentennial Man" which is so sad in the end. So nice, a sci-fi movie that's so character-driven. And more makeup effects rather than CGI or whatever.
It often amazes me how well comic actors do with dramatic roles. Robin Williams and Jim Carrey come to mind. "Final Cut", scary but great philosophical movie. "Bicentennial Man", as already mentioned, which makes you think about what it means to be human. "Truman Show", sure it's funny, but it's mostly a commentary on freedom of choice! "Liar Liar", they don't demonize the potential stepfather (Carey Elwes, hi Westley!) or make things completely perfect at the end. It's just about a guy struggling to be a good father, or at the least someone that his child can respect.
Anyway, though, after that I made it to the yarn shop, to try to put in some good time on my two Super "Sekrit" projects. I got in some work, but my fingers were actually really sore from all the practice Saturday during the class. I need something with big non-pointy needles... maybe a bulky-yarn scarf I've had in mind for one of my coworkers. That's the great thing about bulky yarn, it works up quickly. Arrgh, but I really should focus on the projects if I'm going to finish them by Sending Day!
After coming home, I decided to watch the Doctor Who TV movie from the 90's, but this time with commentary! Oh, Paul McGann would have been a great Doctor! (assuming he got good scripts, of course)
I found out from the commentary, that's a wig. And he hated it. Oh well. It was so close to "ginger!" And the TARDIS set, it was a real work of art. It'd be popular now, since steampunk seems to be coming into its own as a subgenre. I'd love to do a steampunk costume for a convention, but I'm not good enough with tools and costuming to add all the gears and gizmos that really make Victorian into steampunk.
This was quite a ramble, wasn't it? Anything to delay the start of another work week, I think. It just seemed like this weekend vanished.
